Making the Best Of Each Day

Outside my window, a new day I see
and only I can determine
what kind of day it will be.
It can be busy and sunny, laughing and gay,
or boring and cold, unhappy and grey.
My own state of mind
is the determined key,
for I am the only person I let myself be.
for I am only the person I let myself be.
I can be thoughtful and do all I can to help,
or be selfish and think just of myself.
I can enjoy what I do make it seem fun
or gripe and complain and make it
hard on someone.
I can be patient with those who may
not understand,
or belittle and hurt them as much as I can
But I have faith in myself
and believe what I say
and pesonally intend to make
the best if each day.

Why Do God Let Us Suffer

How has Christ suffered for us?

Have you ever wonder why good people suffer?  Do you ever ask why a good person must suffer because of certain ailments and other type of long-sufferings. Because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.~ Hebrews 12:6  Sometimes suffering is for the much training and correction we need as a child of God.

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Parable: The Prodigal Son

This is one of my favorite parable, for I have been the prodigal son at times in my life. Like this son he had things going his way and he lost it all. Not only were he losing his possessions, but lost connection with God and his family.  Sometimes we have to hit rock bottom to realize how confuse and lost we really are. Even when we been dead to sin and repent our Heavenly Father accepts us back in his loving arms. He know that we were lost and know when we been found.

There was a  man had two sons. The younger of them said to his father, "Father, give me my share of the estate."  The Father then divided his property between his two sons.

Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there wasted his portion with wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.  So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs.  He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. He know that we were lost and is found

When he came to his senses, he said, "How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death."  He set out and went back to his father. While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. Father,  "I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants."

Never mind said his Father, instead the father said to his servants, "Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found."  And they began to celebrate.

When the older brother heard he became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. But he answered his father, "See!  All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has wasted your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!"

The father said to his older son, "you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.  But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found."

The Prodigal Son is very much alive today. There will always be a Prodigal Son until the end of time. Do you know one?

Luke 15:11-32

Parable: Sower and the Seed

This story is about four very different people and how they accept and react to the word of God. The first person do not hear the word of God at all. A farmer went out to sow his seed.  As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.  The second person do hear the word of God and for a short while he seems to be following his word. But he soon stop listening to the word and lose sight of the Lord. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.  But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. This person heard and grew in the word, but somehow got caught up the world and he too lose sight of God.  Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. The fourth person did not only hear the word, but became a true christain, and doer of the word. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Pay attention and listen! "Whoever has ears, let them hear."  I don't know about you, but I have been all of the above at one time or another in my life.

Matthew 13:3-9
